This tournament was played between six 'national' teams during 2004. The tournament was started before a formal team structure was introduced on the site and is unlikely to be repeated in this format, future tournaments are likely to take full advantage of the site's team system.
Because of the number of players wishing to take part from Argentina and the UK, two teams (A and B) were set up for each of these countries. A USA team was created and a 'Rest of World' team for players from countries where there were not enough players to create a single team at the time the tournament was played.
A qualifying round was played, with two pools playing in a round robin format. Two points were awarded for a win and one for a draw. The final was contested between the two pool winners and a third place match was also played between the two runners up.
Each match was played on six boards (eight for the final), four for Standard Chess (six for the final) and two for Fischer Random Chess, with each board consisting of two games (colours reversed for the second game).
The results of the tournament were:
Winners: Argentina B
Runners up: Argentina A
