Age 63, former USCF member and tournament player, returned to chess in March 2008 after a 30-year "dormancy" (with exception of solving chess puzzles in the newspaper through the years).

Academic backgrounds in music and mechanical engineering, presently employed as the Industrial Mechanical Systems Instructor at Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville. Also enrolled as a part-time graduate student at Arkansas State University, beginning work on a second master's degree, this time in mathematics.

Also play classical violin/viola, as well as old-time string band and bluegrass fiddling. In addition, enjoy American history (including first-person historical interpretation), hiking/backpacking/camping, and classical prose and poetry.
