Over the years I've played a fair number of online or postal games, both standard chess and variants (Randomised or Chess 960, Progressive, enlarged games with added R+N or B+N, Three Checks, Extinction, Chinese, Korean, etc). I learnt Chinese Chess when living in Taiwan for a time, and that led me on to other forms of chess and to variants.
I prefer slow chess (leisure speed), with plenty of time to think, and I still like the standard game but I think there's far too much opening theory and so I don't play it very much these days.
I live in Swansea in South Wales, and often go walking along the coastal paths or in the beautiful countryside we have near here.
