Hello, I've played chess in sporadic bursts since I was an 8 yr old, I'm now 44. A few years ago I discovered internet chess and have been playing 10 minute games online. Unfortunately my rating isn't going up. This is a complete disaster because I have a son who is learning and whose rating is going up - i enjoy playing him so I want to keep up. Someone suggested I play correspondence chess to improve. I have joined the ICCF where I am playing both postal (which I love - nice using stamps again) and webserver games. I think this is helping me since I am not rushing (avoiding blatant blunders), I am analysing lines and I am studying past games. Other than that I'm an architect in Melbourne (originally from the highlands of Scotland), I've written plays that have been produced, I like the wilderness and I usually play 1.e4 - but not always ;) I look forward to playing here.
